Who am I?

I'm your discerning bookkeeper, Emmie,

My first introduction to bookkeeping was year-end reconciling of an account for a closing business. It was love at first puzzle. I spent a few years not bookkeeping (why?), and finally found my way back to it. Even before bookkeeping I worked for a few years in data entry and really honed in on the art of *Accuracy.* I worked in the freight industry and any mistake could very easily become a big one. Whether that was due to a missed delivery and late package, a mis-delivery to the wrong address, a stop at the weigh station and coming up short or heavy, or realizing the driver is carrying around undeclared hazardous material, accuracy was a must. I was and am very good at it. That's because at it's core, accuracy has a lot more to do with respect for the work than anything else.

It's that same respect that lead me to decide if I was going to take this seriously and be taken seriously, I needed to not only study bookkeeping, I needed to make sure I had the foundations required to be an effective and accurate one. Which is why I chose a program that not only taught the basic processes of Bookkeeping, it also focused on the underpinning accounting principles that ensure accurate books accountants can run with.

I have a passion for small business and watching business owners make their dreams come true, and I love how bookkeeping can play such a simple but profound role in just that.

I grew up in Spokane, Wa. Graduated from EWU magna cum laude with a BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. People think you can't like English and Math but I have a secret--I just love books.

I'm still in Spokane (for now) with my partner Sebastian and our 3 kitties. He's the crazy cat guy, I just love all things furry. When I'm not making money, I'm writing, making bath bombs and candles, learning to paint, sew, and crochet, playing video games and streaming them when I have the spoons.
